Important Notice: Tree Works Around the Pleasure Garden – Lawn Road

Dear All,

Following a tree survey completed by Mick Boddy, we have been advised to complete the following tree work. BranchWalkers will be completing the work on Wednesday and Thursday, 2nd -3rd September 2026. All of this work requires a cherry-pickerand most of it will have to be done from the road, to avoid damage to cars, please move cars off Lawn Road.

• Unfortunately, the beautiful old Sycamore on the Lawn Road side of the Pleasure Garden quite near to the letterbox is in serious decline and is now having to be removed.

• Further along Lawn Road the Horse Chestnut, a Yew andthe Western Red Cedar need some work to reduce the span of the trees so that high-sided vehicles don’t damage the lower branches.

• Significant work needs to be done on the two Sycamores by the shed to remove dead and dying branches from thecrowns of both trees. These trees will continue to be monitored.

• A Sycamore on Rowley Avenue, just opposite the top of Lawn Road, needs some minor work involving the removal of dead branches which span the road.

A quick note of reassurance. The sub-committee and the Survey Committee take the maintenance of the trees extremely seriously. The annual inspection of the trees is carried out by a qualified arborist. The Sycamores have been disproportionately affected by the heat and drought over the last few years and are also suffering from squirrel damage.
