Dear Residents,
We are deeply saddened to hear that a dog was bitten in the Pleasure Gardens over the weekend. Our thoughts are with the affected owner and their pet.
We recognise this is not an isolated incident, and such occurrences are becoming more frequent. This trend is unacceptable and requires urgent attention.
As outlined in our previous communications, responsible dog ownership is not just an expectation; it is the standard we uphold in our park.
Following recent events , the committee has discussed this issue at length at its recent committee meeting. While there is no silver bullet, we believe that direct engagement is the most effective tool. If the owner of the offending dog is identified, committee members are prepared to work with the affected party on a one-to-one basis to help address the situation. We firmly believe in the power of respectful, direct communication and appealing to the better nature of our residents. To date, this approach has been proven successful.
At the meeting we explored other measures, including:
i). replacing Pleasure Garden gate keys with restricted keys (difficult to duplicate)
ii). installing magnetic lock systems.
However, these systems do not resolve the issue if the individual at fault has authorised access to the park.
Please note, the committee does not have enforcement powers to police the gardens, if you believe a crime has occurred, please report the matter to the police via 101.
In specific relation to the recent incident involving the blue Staffordshire dog, two committee members are currently in contact with the affected owner to understand what action they wish to take.
Let’s work together as a community to get this under control. We will join you in taking action.
Thank you for your cooperation and support.

We kindly remind all residents to close the gates behind them when entering or exiting the Pleasure Gardens.
